a Sunday Morning Diversion

I’m not afraid to admit it. Sunday mornings are frankly painful at my house. We are on the dreaded 1-4 church schedule which means that we spend about 7 solid hours getting ready for church, still panic during the last twenty minutes and inevitably find at least one child shoeless after we’ve settled into a pew. I actually prefer the 9-12 slot; we jump out of bed and race to church– just like ripping off a bandaid.

But I’m feeling very grateful for my late worship this Sabbath because I’ll have the inestimable pleasure of hearing our very own Segullah founder extraordinaire, Kathryn Soper, interviewed by Doug Wright himself from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. She will be talking about the wonderful Segullah community and the new book The Mother in Me: Real World Reflections on Growing into Motherhood.

I plan on hiding in my closet, like a member of the resistance in WWII, and listening to the interview on my transistor radio on KSL 1160 AM or 102.7 FM. But if you’re a bit more civilized, you can catch the stream here.

And if you do have early church (I’m jealous!) or if you just space off and miss it (who could do that?) you can find Kathy’s interview in the archives at KSL.com.

Thanks, friends. I didn’t get to hear the whole thing–we have 9:00 church and I didn’t want the kids to remember missing the sacrament just to hear me on the radio. But we got to hear the first third.

I tried not to count the “ums.”

I have a hard time thinking while speaking! It’s like rubbing your stomach and patting your head at the same time. And you don’t get to revise.

At least I didn’t belch.

Kathy, you were amazing. I only caught the last few minutes (meeting conflict), but I was so impressed by how well you articulated your thoughts. You done us all proud, girl! Will they post a transcript of the entire interview at some point?

I don’t think they’ll ever post a transcript. There’s a small chance they might archive the broadcast, but that’s not very likely either.
