The Year My Son and I Were Born, a memoir by our editor-in-chief, Kathryn Lynard Soper. It is has not been released yet, but it’s available for pre-order. I am so excited to read this!

Just What Mama Needs, by our Assistant Poetry Editor, Sharlee Mullins Glenn. As Kathy puts it, “The story is inventive and charming, and the parent-child relationship depicted is tender without being sappy. The text rolls easily off the tongue. Plus, the paper-cutout artwork is fantastic.” We love this book!
Boot Scoot Bikes, from our Assistant Manager Katie Stirling. Developed for children ages 2-6, the Boot Scoot has no pedals. Instead, children use their own Boots to Scoot themselves along, learning balance as they go. They offer free UPS ground shipping from now through December 31.
For your home:
Art by Maralise Petersen, our art director and blog editor. Mara’s work can be ordered in gallery wrap canvas, which extends around the frame. It is featured in the current issue of Irreantum About her art, she says,
“Because I believe that beauty doesn’t exist without complexity, I often layer seemingly mismatched images and use texture to blend the images together. Instead of being upset by messy edges and incongruities, I relish in the almost-random feeling of most of my work. I find that in trying to showcase the beauty of life in two-dimensions there is a lot that doesn’t fit in the frame. I like it that way.”
Art by Leslie Graff, our Blog Sampler Guru. Leslie will be the featured artist in our Spring 2008: Gifts of the Spirit issue. Leslie’s art features bold colors and geometric shapes, mingled with images of the natural world.

The LDS arts blog A Motley Vision has created some t-shirts with the phrase “A Motley Vision” transliterated into the Deseret Alphabet. They’re not Segullah staffers. But I love that idea! I want my name transliterated into the Deseret Alphabet!
