Winter 2009

Segullah is delighted to announce last year’s writing contest winners.  The winning essays and poetry are currently featured in Segullah’s Winter 2009 issue “Becoming.”

Heather Campbell Personal Essay Contest:
First Place:
“Beginnings,” by E. K. Beck
Honorable Mention:
“God Sees the Truth But Waits” by Jes S. Curtis
“From Afar” by Jennifer Smith

Segullah Poetry Contest:
First Place:  “Expectancy” by Lara Niedermeyer
Second Place: “Killdeer” by Ellen Gregory
Third Place: “Arroyo” by Ellen Gregory

Congratulations to all of our winners!  We truly enjoyed reading all of your submissions – it was difficult to choose the winners.  We encourage everyone to start writing now for next year’s competition.  We would love to hear from you!  Be sure to subscribe to Segullah’s in-print journal so that you can enjoy this wonderful writing when you’re away from your computer.

    For me personally, this issue marks how I became a big fan of the poetry of Ellen Gregory. She blows me away.
