I cradle you, my hatchling child, and ponder
what your birth reveals about origins;
how water is our first world, then air, then earth,

Obsession…I Mean, Intense Focus

4 September 2008 @ 04:37 | Small Epiphanies | 24 Comments

Like millions of others around the globe, I was entranced with the Olympics this year. Each night, I sat down to several hours of TiVo’d events, marveling at the athletic spectacle. Almost as much as I enjoyed seeing athletes compete, I enjoyed watching the athletes themselves – their toned, muscular bodies competing at the [...]

My Life is a Reality Show

21 August 2008 @ 04:56 | Small Epiphanies | 12 Comments

The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle states that in attempting to measure the position of a particle the position of the particle becomes uncertain – that making a measurement alters the particle being measured. A corollary to this is the Observer’s Paradox, which states that the observation of an event or experiment is influenced by the presence [...]

1 August 2008 @ 09:14 | Guest Post | 17 Comments

My 6 year old son, E, suffered a brain injury at birth. Due to this injury, he has cerebral palsy with epilepsy, blindness, serious developmental delays and a host of other medical problems. He’s very susceptible to respiratory infections. I wrote about him in “Living with Dying” for Segullah several months ago. [...]

And Mary Kept All Things

23 December 2007 @ 06:36 | Guest Post | 4 Comments

Every year at Christmas, I ponder about the birth of Savior, but I also think about His mother, Mary.

4 December 2007 @ 08:14 | Guest Post | 10 Comments

Here is another welcome guest post from Andrea R. There are days when I am covered in barf, poop, pee, and mucus, when children are clamoring, and when juggling two little ones and a disabled child leave me feeling completely overwhelmed.  I think to myself, “I am NOT cut out for this job!”Having grown up in [...]

Living with Dying

17 November 2007 @ 12:38 | Guest Post | 19 Comments

Guest Post from Andrea R. To read more from Andrea, go here and here.Every morning I wake up and wonder if E has died in the night. I walk to his room and listen, waiting to hear the sound of his labored breathing and cough and hoping for silence. He coughs, and [...]

It’s All About Poop

4 November 2007 @ 12:20 | Guest Post | 11 Comments

Another Guest Post from Andrea R. Thanks! Again. When my husband and I first were married, we talked about a lot of things. We’d go to movies and then spend the evening discussing and critiquing them. One year, we saw every movie that had been nominated for an Academy Award. We [...]

When Through Deep Waters I Call Thee to Go
