A Divine Eye Roll

You’ve been there.  You’re forced to go to a bridal or baby shower long after the stage where they seem fun and exciting (even romantic.  I’m gagging.  But yes, I thought that, at least about the bridal showers).  You play games.  You talk about your own wedding.  You compare birth stories.  You win in [...]

Bitte Alle Aussteigen

It takes an hour to get there.  One bus, two different subway trains, one street tram: I try never to make so many connections but the cemetery is as far away from the city center as you can get without entering the countryside.  I can see why Vienna’s Zentral Friedhof is a tourist destination.   It’s [...]

Just. Perfect.

I hear him talking to Sister S* on the phone.  He’s making small talk (quite a feat!) before inviting her to speak about charity on Sunday.  He’s happy, she must have accepted.  They continue to talk but their conversation fades as I look at the disastrous kitchen.  Because of a full working day and Christmas [...]

Don’t Go Mixin’ Politics

It has always bothered me when a well-loved (by me) singer or actor decides to use the fame they have gained through art-making for political ends.  I don’t necessarily fault them for feeling like they ’should’ do something to better the world given their money and influence.
It just makes me….want to classify them as something [...]

Wait on the Lord

Here’s another Guest Post from Leslie at Heaven’s Overlook. Missed her post on blogging last week?  Here it is.  You’re welcome.  And thanks Leslie!
“Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” ~Psalm 27:14
When I was a little girl I believed in turning to [...]

The Know-It-All

My story is no different than any other.  I grew up Mormon, in Utah.  I was the Laurel class president (Beehive and Mia Maid too).  I went to BYU.  I come from pioneer stock on one side and pioneer + alcoholic stock on the other (beware, this leads to a compulsion to force feed others [...]

Mawage is what bwings us togevah, today

Christie loves to run, shop, take photos and write about her crazy kids and darling husband.  She’s a movie buff extraordinaire but tries really hard not to bring up Braveheart references during Relief Society.  She blogs at These are a Few of My Favorite Things.  Welcome Christie!
I was reading one of my favorite blogs [...]

Book Review of Eugene Woodbury’s ‘Angel Falling Softly’

Eugene Woodbury
Angel Falling Softly
Zarahemla Books, 2008
Softcover, 224 pages
ISBN:978-0-9787971-6-4
$15.95
It has vampires, love scenes, and is written by a Mormon author.  But it’s definitely not part of the Twilight series.  It is, however, a good read. I would even venture to say that it’s a great read.
