Magic. It happened in the early mornings and after my children went to bed. I awoke not to bony elbows climbing my still body for a morning love or to the loud screams of my toddler. Instead, I awoke to the dead quiet of pre-dawn. And you know what I did?
I read. A lot. Three hours a day to be precise. And it was. Have I said this already?
Magic.
I read poetry and fiction, blogs and scholarship, scriptures and magazines. And because I’m dictatorial like that, I want you to try it.
For just one week. And then tell us about it here at Segullah.
You could read two hours a day for seven days. Three hours a day for five days. Or spread out the 14-15 hours over a longer period of time. Or if you’re a page counter, you could read 14-1500 pages.
Want to try? Here’s a post that I wrote after taking the challenge for a week. And here’s another one. And there will be more from members of the staff. But, we also want to know what you’re reading, thinking, researching, googling.
Book Challenge? Come On.
(Email me at art at segullah dot org if you’re interested in taking the challenge. Or if you’ve already done the reading, send me your guest post and we’ll publish it pronto!)

While I would LOVE to join in, I know if I did, too much would suffer in the rest of my world. I’m looking forward to your posts on the results though!

Mind you, my husband has been out of town this “week o’ reading,†and I am not one to wake with the roosters just so that I can fall back asleep with a book on my head. Instead, I fit the reading in at the kids’ naptimes and only fell asleep twice; I retired early with my books as soon as my oldest was snoozing, and only fell asleep with the lights on once. But the things I was thinking as I crashed into slumber… Wow. [...]
