Blessing the Trees from Spring 2007

She bought the land

for the w i d e n e s s of it,

not the trees.

But it was trees

that defined the land,

chopped it up

into lines and spaces

the eye could order.

Beyond Mommy: Knowing Who I Am

6 March 2009 @ 03:03 | Guest Post, Small Epiphanies | 42 Comments

Annette Lyon is the mother of four children ages six to thirteen. While thrilled to be past the diaper and sleep-deprivation stages, she’s a little freaked that her kids are growing up too fast. Tower of Strength, the fourth novel in her historical temple series, is Annette’s sixth book, now on shelves. She blogs at [...]

Mother-in-law

24 February 2009 @ 08:35 | Guest Post | 66 Comments

Our guest poster chooses anonymity today in of the slight chance that her mother-in-law could read this– because she does love her, even if she drives her completely crazy.
Sunday afternoons with 5 small children are chaotic at best with every toy called upon to maintain peace, meals spread throughout the long hours and disagreements breaking [...]

February 1st is the New January 1st

1 February 2009 @ 08:54 | Guest Post | 11 Comments

Many thanks to Kristin for her guest post today. You can also find her at http://mindthemommy.blogspot.com/.
At least for procrastinators. Those who were highly motivated to set new goals for the year, and have only now remembered to add them to the To-Do List. Or those who still have “set New Year’s resolutions” ON the To-Do [...]

The Home Teacher

29 January 2009 @ 06:25 | Guest Post | 52 Comments

Juliana is originally from the Pacific Northwest and is publishing this post anonymously because she doesn’t want to offend anyone.
My cell phone rang, and the caller asked to speak to my husband. It was our home teacher setting an appointment for the next Sunday. He arrived promptly at the arranged time, sat in [...]

A few years ago, I decided that I [...]

Blue is a mother of two and wife to a 40 year old med student(it’s never to late to chase those dreams!). You may want to share this wonderful guest post with your children.
As far back as I can remember I felt like a social misfit. Ridicule and name calling were a common part of [...]

Reciprocity: Angels Among Us

10 December 2008 @ 08:24 | Guest Post | 22 Comments

Another lovely guest post from Leslie at Heaven’s Overlook.
Here at the Segullah Blog, quite a bit of reciprocity emerges on a daily basis. It goes like this.  You have a good quote, poem, or idea and you share it with someone and they love it so they share it with a neighbor or a sister. [...]

Tell Me Lies

28 November 2008 @ 12:28 | Guest Post, Small Epiphanies | 10 Comments

Guest poster Emily lives in the South with her husband and two children. She writes under a pseudonym because she loves to vent but is deathly afraid of offending people. Someday she will write the great American novel and hopefully have the guts to use her own name.
No one likes being lied to. Or so [...]

26 November 2008 @ 10:04 | Guest Post | 11 Comments

From Foxy J Thanks again for Guesting with us!
Since it’s the day before Thanksgiving I feel pressure to write a holiday post. But I also feel overwhelmed by all the great posts that have already been written about gratitude. What else can I say? I like how Shelah blogged the other day about being grateful [...]

I didn’t grow up in a city at all, but in a suburb my best friend and I dubbed UKC. UKC stood for Unincorporated King County, because our county didn’t bother [...]

Little Green Gnome

19 November 2008 @ 12:27 | Guest Post | 9 Comments

From FoxyJ
Last year a well-meaning family member bought my daughter a book based on the show Dragon Tales. For those of you who haven’t seen the show, there’s a brother and sister in the show who are actually one dragon. They have one body and two heads, and very different personalities.
