Our little figurine was a plastic rendition of the genie from Aladdin (picked up from some happy meal sometime, I guess, but I can't figure out how since this tradition started before we had kids). Only we didn't call him "genie," we called him "camping guy." Because when we packed to go camping, we couldn't forget him and hung him suspended from the rope at the top of our tent. But then one day camping guy got lost (it was a sad day) and we haven't seen him for years. I guess I should find another one. My husband and I do (or did) exactly the same thing. Mr. Yuck was a green circle with a frowny face that you could put on poisonous substances to warn pre reading children that they should say "yuck" and avoid.
