Three Thoughts on Thanksgiving

From the poet,

See beauty and we know it in the marrow, even if we have no words for it: Someone is behind it, in it. Every moment I live, I live bowed to something. And if I don’t see God, I’ll bow down before something else. – Ann Voskamp

The pastor,

Grace and gratitude belong together like heaven and earth.

Grace evokes gratitude like the voice an echo.

Gratitude follows grace as thunder follows lightning. – Karl Barth

And the psalmist,

Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gate with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise, be thankful unto him, and bless his name.  - Psalms 100:3-4

Thank you from all of us at Segullah for reading, sharing, and graciously giving your words here. You make it a place where we learn from and care for one another. Happy Thanksgiving.

  1. Last night I was in a parking garage for about 20 minutes. When I finally exited, I received a text from a family member asking “are you seeing this sunset?” It was completely dark by then, and I had missed the whole show. So your photo made me doubly happy, as nothing fills my heart with awe more than the sun upon rising or setting.

Happiest day of thanks to each of you! I’m thankful for all that Segullah adds to my life. ♥

  2. Blue – so happy you could see it here, albeit cropped in magnitude. Hope you had a lovely holiday.

    Strollerblader – thank YOU.

Melissa – happy weekend to you too. Sending love.
