Are You Curious About Mormon Literature?

By Jessie Christensen

Those who come across our Segullah blog may or may not immediately realize that a major part of our mission is to “encourage literary and artistic talent” among Latter-day Saint women. We have done this for years through both the journal (first in print and now online) and our blog. Articles and posts about the craft of writing, interviews with authors and artists, and reviews of books by and about Mormons have been part of Segullah from the very beginning. We are proud to be part of a community of people who seek to foster artistic expression by Latter-day Saints.

Are you curious about what Mormon Literature is and where it is going? Have you ever wanted to attend a poetry slam, get book recommendations from excellent sources, or meet some of the ladies from Segullah in person? This coming Saturday, March 28, you can do all these things at the annual AML Conference, which is being held in the afternoon at the Utah Valley University Library in Orem, Utah. We know that not everyone who would like to attend will be able to, especially on such short notice, but hope that anyone who is interested will make the effort to be there. This year’s conference has been specifically planned for ‘newbies’ who don’t know a lot about Mormon Literature and want to find out more. You can click over to A Motley Vision for more details about Saturday’s schedule; we hope to see you there!
