Peculiar Treasures: Odd Pairings

By Kellie Purcill

Here bookie/wookie!  Take this fun quiz to see if it can guess what sort of book nerd you are, and the Force is strong (and young) in this cute Christmas ad.

Doggie heaven and rock stars.  If you’re a cat person, you may not like what heaven may look like (hint: DOGS!). Having nothing to do with cats or dogs, now you know there is a museum for rocks that look like they have faces.

Paying it back-forward-around/paying attention.  A recent wonderful StoryCorps production is about a family creating villages, from Afghanistan to Utah.  While you have a warm fuzzy in your chest/belly, pay attention to (but don’t get freaked out by) possible symptoms of ovarian cancer.

Leon’s gone/ here’s Ok Go. The toll of artists lost this year keeps on rising, recently adding Leonard Cohen.  His life and impact are thoughtfully considered here, tying together philosophy, prayer, light and compassion. Let the light come in further with the latest song and coordinated music video by Ok Go, which took an entire 4.2 seconds to record.

About Kellie Purcill

lives way on the other side of the planet in her native Australia and gives thanks for the internet regularly. She loves books, her boys, panna cotta, collecting words, being a redhead and not putting things in order of importance when listing items. She credits writing as a major contributing factor to surviving her life with sanity mostly intact, though her (in)sanity level is subject to change without warning.
