Book Review: Let’s Call it a Doomsday

I have been a fan of Katie Henry’s books since her first novel, Heretics Anonymous, released last year—it was one of the best depictions of religion I’ve seen in nationally published young adult novels. I ordered her sophomore novel, Let’s Call it a Doomsday, without knowing anything about it besides the author. Thus, it was with some surprise and considerable delight I opened the book to find that Henry’s heroine, Ellis Kimball, was a Latter-day Saint—a religion largely absent from most mainstream books published for children (I can think of only a few recent books that can claim this distinction, and not all of them depict us well—but that’s a topic for another discussion).
