Her painting process is all about “feeling around the edges of her subjects” until what she is searching for reveals itself.
She works to capture a “life spark” through a painting mindset that on the one hand holds firmly to technical performance, but also keeps mental space open for expressive flow.
While Crystal paints a variety of subjects, her love is people; allowing the side trips into landscapes, abstracts and still lives as a means to keep her body of work well rounded and evolving.
Crystal is also a writer. She equates the satisfaction of finding the right turn of phrase to the thrill of a beautifully executed brush stroke. She believes it is through humor and vulnerability that people are connected.
Crystal lives and works in Colorado with her husband and 5 sons. She travels frequently to continue her education and participate in shows around the country. She has close ties to the Denver, and Utah art communities.
