In this issue, Prose serves up a literary version of a well-balanced meal with the kind of variety we crave. First, Olivia Grover’s dystopian short story, “Of Secrets and Truth,” introduces a young shero who discovers a decades-kept secret sure to shape the future for all. In the creative non-fiction category, Cherie Pedersen’s braided essay, “Hearts of the Children,” combines poetry, prose, and journal entries with delicious results. Mauri Pollard’s “God’s Eye View” stirs up introspection and vulnerability as she considers her relationship with God the Father. Finally, Katie Whitworth writes a series of letters to people at key moments in her development, and her piece, “Sincerely,” leaves us smiling and satisfied.
