Segullah’s 5th Anniversary Issue

By Andrea Rediske

Segullah has been our peculiar treasure for five years, and we are proud to announce our fifth anniversary issue entitled, “Inside and Outside Marriage.”  In this issue, our authors explore the many facets of marriage — its challenges, trials, and rewards — both from within and without.  This special double-length edition features a collection of personal essays, poetry, feature articles, and, for the first time, a work of fiction.

Contributors include LDS literature authors Linda Hoffman Kimball, Tessa Myers Santiago, our own fiction author Angela Hallstrom, and sex therapist Natasha Parker, as well as the winners and honorees of the Heather Campbell essay contest and Segullah poetry contest.

In celebration of our fifth anniversary, Segullah is offering a thousand free copies of this special issue to readers who begin or renew their one-year subscription to the print journal.

We would also like to renew our call for submissions to the Segullah blog and literary journal.  We are now accepting submissions for the Heather Campbell essay contest and the Segullah Poetry contest to be published in the Fall/Winter 2011 issue.  Please see our submissions guidelines here.

* As of the summer of 2012, subscriptions are no longer available.

  1. Thanks for reminding me! I'd been going to subscribe once we moved to our new place, but with all the unpacking, it totally slipped my mind!

  2. Hi Girls–I have received only one journal since subscribing (it was the Winter 2009). I am not sure if that was all I subscribed for or if there were to be two issues with the subscription. I emailed and did not get an answer. I would like to remain a subscriber, but I'm not sure if I need to send money again. Please help. Thank you.

  3. I went ahead and just subscribed again. I'd still love to know if I missed an issue somewhere with my other subscription. Thanks a ton.

  4. I subscribed a couple months ago, but never heard or received anything. I think I was supposed to get a special (additional) issue. I don't get a response when I've emailed.
Can someone tell me what to expect with a Segullah subscription?

  5. I also paid for a subscription to Segullah (on June 6, 2010) but have not received a regular magazine nor a special anniversary one. I have left numerous messages on the blog about this but have not heard back about it. I am very frustrated and don't know I'm not get a response from you.

  6. I apologize for the confusion, folks.

–The last issue we published was, indeed, in winter 2009.

–We typically publish 2 issues per year, Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter.

–Our double-length anniversary issue is our only issue for 2010, and it comes as a bonus for all subscribers, as stated on our subscription page:

Enjoy Segullah delivered to your home for $12 per year (2 issues). Subscribe now and you’ll receive a complimentary copy of our double-length 5th anniversary issue, plus both of our 2011 issues: Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter.

MelissaPete, we'll refund your second subscription or turn it into a 2-year subscription–your call.

Ana, I emailed you yesterday–so sorry you didn't receive it.

And speaking of email, hackers drove us to switch web hosts over the summer, and communications were down for a time. Big apologies to those of you left hanging!

  7. On January 12, 2010, I paid for a Segullah subscription via Paypal. It was billed as "Anniversary Double Issue Subscription." I have yet to receive an issue…. sooooo, though I'd like your anniversary edition, I'm not feeling inclined to re-subscribe.

  9. Hey Kathryn, I was so excited to hear your name announced at the Mormon Women Project salon event, but when I tried to find you afterwards, you were already gone. I just wanted to tell you I enjoy and appreciate your work.
